The Gude Landfill is owned by the Northeast Maryland Waste Disposal Authority. The landfill is closed, no longer accepting waste, and is in remediation for low-level environmental contamination through the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). The landfill is not subject to the gas collection and control requirements of the Federal New Source Performance Standards or Emission Guidelines for Municipal Solid Waste Landfills and does not have a Title V air operation permit. The landfill has a gas collection and control system with an enclosed flare which operates under a state air construction permit. The Integrity project team currently performs Compliance Reporting Services/O&M Reporting Services and O&M Field Services at the Gude Landfill.
Compliance Reporting Services/O&M Reporting Services
To meet the requirements of Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Integrity prepares the Annual Emission Report and the monthly O&M Report including the maintenance checklist, monitoring data, photos and other pertinent documentation. Integrity also submits the quarterly LFG monitoring data to the owner’s environmental compliance and sampling contractor.
EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reporting rule (40 CFR 98), requires the facility to submit annual greenhouse gas emissions reports to the EPA via the online Electronic Greenhouse Gas Reporting Tool (e-GGRT) database. We evaluated this need and made a recommendation to the facility regarding GHG reporting.
O&M Field Activities
Integrity performs all routine operations, monitoring, and maintenance; blower/flare station monitoring, extraction well monitoring, condensate management, collection pipe maintenance, monthly review/organizing, scheduled maintenance, emergency services, and operation service to the LFG extraction wells and condensate drains as necessary.
Landfill Gas System Construction
We assisted the facility with a 2023 and 2024 remediation project. This included abandoning existing LFG wells and condensate drain and reinstalling new wells and a new condensate drain. The remediation work was successfully completed in 2024.
