We have experienced rapid growth and are seeking a Project Manager/Engineer to help lead our program and/or design efforts in that space. The selected candidate will generally manage and lead projects in the solid waste sector involving landfill gas design. Periodic travel is required based on project demands. This is an office-based in our Richmond VA office.
This role will be required to manage and maintain contact with clients, manage schedules, and help support career development with staff engineers. This roll will also coordinate with our Environmental Science team and Operations and Management teams. This individual will need to be able to provide senior review/engineering certifications for a variety of tasks including construction drawings, engineering reports and letters, permit applications, calculations, business development, and proposals.
Responsibilities:
- Managing large landfill gas design projects
- Managing, mentoring and supervising project teams
- Develop and prepare proposals, schedules, and budgets
- Understand and implement local, state and federal rules and regulations throughout all project work
- Develop and maintain client relationships
- Coordinate tasks and scheduling effectively
- Coordinate with vendors and sub-consultants
- Preparing design plans and specifications, reports, data analysis, and compliance tasks as needed
- Prepare construction bid documents and manage construction projects for clients
Skills:
- Strong communication skills, oral and written
- Experience with design packages for landfill gas projects
- Experience with using AutoCAD/Civil 3D design software preferred
- Microsoft Office and other computer programs (ArcGIS, Google Forms, etc..) experience preferred
- Excellent leadership skills; team builder
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6-10 years of experience specific to design and engineering
- 5+ years working at an engineering consulting firm preferred
- 3-5+ years working in solid waste/landfill industry required
- Bachelors of Science Degree or higher in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Geotechnical Engineering preferred
- Business Development experience preferred
- PE License
- Valid clear Driver’s License
- Must be eligible to be legally employed in the U.S.
- Previous management preferred
- Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle
- records checks
- Develop and maintain client relationships

Pay: $85,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

Senior Civil/Solid Waste Engineer

We have experienced rapid growth and are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer/Solid Waste Engineer to lead our program and/or design efforts in that space. The role can be exclusively a senior engineering technical position – or a senior Director/Program Manager working with our existing client base. We’ll match the role and the location to fit your needs! The selected candidate will generally manage and lead projects in the solid waste sector involving landfill cell design, planning, design modifications, stormwater management system design, landfill closure, construction quality assurance, and solid waste permitting. Periodic travel is required based on project demands. This is an office-based role – however the candidate will preferably office at one of our existing southeastern US locations and will need to lead engineers at one or more of those locations which include Richmond VA, Marietta GA, Columbia SC, or Tampa FL. We will consider other arrangements for the right person.

Job Description
- Ability to perform tasks including physical labor as instructed by supervisor
- Ability to work with crew members and operate a variety of hand and power tools including drills, hammers, and other tools as directed by management
- Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, including erecting scaffolding, removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials, and digging trenches
- Load and unload construction supplies around the worksite manually and with the use of equipment
- Requires ability to climb and maintain balance on scaffold/ladder
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs; may be required to work in adverse weather conditions
- Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly
- Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn
- Requires good manual dexterity; may be standing, bending, kneeling or sitting for long periods
- Must be able to operate general construction equipment, ie. Skid steer
- Must be able to drive a UTV over rough terrain on landfills and have a clear MVR to be able to drive our company vehicles, to include pick up trucks
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
